Ella Hikes South Mountain

Ella speaks:

Hello everyone!  I got a great start to the new year!   I start 2011 by celebrating on the Mexico beachs. The parents did not let me swim but I had some excellent walks.

"You are here" (hey I knew that!)
This is my first trip to South Mountain. Mighty fine! Ya know - this is the world's largest municipal park! (They read that to me.)
Come on, get started.

I think I might be 1,000 feet above the desert.
Let's go search for all that wildlife I smell.

Perfect Day! Thank  you parents! I'm barely tired.

Did you notice, I don't look a bit older this year.

Oops on that vacation!

How did I let time get past without posting some pix of our August vacation in Greer? I was just looking at my girlfriend's blog - she stays so up-to-date.

We stayed in a fantastic cabin!

Ella kept alert for woodsy friends.

Occasionally there were staring contests

Some of us took long hikes!

Scary monster, huh?

No, we did not sauté these!
Greer is perfect!

Fooled you - that horned toad was very small.

Ella could stay forever!
Some late night activities.

Amazing wildflowers so late in the summer!

So many pictures, so much fun!
We'll go back again next summer.

Ella's Message

Last Sunday was just another beautiful day on top of Camelback Mountain. Ho, hum it's easy for me to hike up there.
My Gramps wanted a better picture of me (just me) on top, so here you go!
I agree I look good and the view is nice too.

And here I am with my mom.

Here is my dad...my Grammie says he is way close to the edge!

I have excellent manners. You see I get to go off leash some of the time. i take my snack and have it at the summit, just like the other hikers.

Last week I heard a noise... What the heck??
It was just a ground squirrel. One must follow the hiking rules, so I didn't even give it a chase.
In the evening after a hike, I tend to crash. My parent call this my "broken neck" pose.
