Ella Hikes South Mountain

Ella speaks:

Hello everyone!  I got a great start to the new year!   I start 2011 by celebrating on the Mexico beachs. The parents did not let me swim but I had some excellent walks.

"You are here" (hey I knew that!)
This is my first trip to South Mountain. Mighty fine! Ya know - this is the world's largest municipal park! (They read that to me.)
Come on, get started.

I think I might be 1,000 feet above the desert.
Let's go search for all that wildlife I smell.

Perfect Day! Thank  you parents! I'm barely tired.

Did you notice, I don't look a bit older this year.

Ella's Forum

You people think I have a perfect life?  You people think I am spoiled? 'Scuse me - I have something to say.  This last month has been totally unacceptable.

Home alone, with only my lambie?
That's what I'm talking about!

They think I don't know?  HA! My parents and my grams have been on road trips for water related events twice lately!
    Hello - I can swim -
I know 'bout water!

My grams went to Texas - without me?  I know the way, I know the rest stops!  So what if that cat at my aunt's house avoids me -- who cares?

Feel my pain...no babysitter, no day care, no Animal Planet on the tube, no special treats, NADA!

And here's the deal, those 5 muffins I stole and ate, that was just a wake up call.  People, people....make no mistake - I know what is going on.

My parents did take me hiking and over to family dinner & sleep-over this week.  Fine, I'm not sulking much.

Ella's Message

Last Sunday was just another beautiful day on top of Camelback Mountain. Ho, hum it's easy for me to hike up there.
My Gramps wanted a better picture of me (just me) on top, so here you go!
I agree I look good and the view is nice too.

And here I am with my mom.

Here is my dad...my Grammie says he is way close to the edge!

I have excellent manners. You see I get to go off leash some of the time. i take my snack and have it at the summit, just like the other hikers.

Last week I heard a noise... What the heck??
It was just a ground squirrel. One must follow the hiking rules, so I didn't even give it a chase.
In the evening after a hike, I tend to crash. My parent call this my "broken neck" pose.

Ella's Point of View

I am dog, I am Ella, I am in charge, I can do anything and I am on top of Camelback Mountain.  (I brought  my cousin Swartz!)
Oh you wonder how I got in shape?  Remember my 2009 resolution?

Mostly Ella

After a family diner* last night, which turned out stellar even without much planning, I ended up with some really nice bread. We seldom buy bread. So this morning I thought...wow, toast, PB and jelly. Nice! It toasted up really pretty! I opened a new jar of peanut butter and found that it tasted weird. FAT FREE??? No way! Who thought that up? Not only is it weird but then I noticed the bread is onion bread. OMG...disgusting. Of course I ate it anyway. Bummer. I'm so bummed that I am going to let a guest blogger write the rest of the entry.

*dinner - grilled pork chops, grilled veggies (peppers, egg plant, onions, carrots),broccoli salad, ranch beans and fresh warm bread. Oh yeah, a very nice red wine!

"Hellooooo.....it's me Ella Mae. This is my first blogging attempt but not my first writing experience by a long shot! Folks, I had a swell time with grammie and gramps the last few days. I really keep them on their toes -- heh, hee! I got to swim everyday at Uncle Ed's. I tell grammie that 4:30 pm = swim time! (you didn't know that I can tell time? duh!) I am even better at diving than I was last year. I watched the olympics which has improved my style.

I went to the park every morning... Two biscuits every morning! Yes! I got a new toy...yipppeee! Gramps plays ball with me nearly every time I ask. The only thing the grams complain about is that I hide my ball under the couch and I can't get it out, without assistance. Great game...I dunno why they don't like it. They get on their hands and knees and reach way under the couch with a flashlight -- it's great fun!! Last week they found three old tennis balls under there, that I left to keep them busy.

All my people came together last night! Just how I like it....it is all about me, huh? After dinner , I had to make a choice to stay at the grams or go.....I went on home with my parents. I do love to ride home in the convertable. At least I can sleep a little later in the mornings. Signed with a lick, 8-) Ella PS I do NOT know why grammie put in this old, embarrassing video!"
