A little tee

This little t-shirt is a free download from Hot Patterns. Does that make it an E-Tee?
It's called the Fringe Festival Scarf T-shirt. Download

I printed it off and taped it together - following the chart (whew!)
I should mention that I had some (a lot) of assistance from hubby......
I'm known for getting things upside down.
It worked out fine. The fabric is no treasure - it is uneven, slippery, and pretty much a mess.  I knew it was my "muslin" but ya know what....it looks OK.    (From a running horse!)
The entire top was serged, edges are rolled hem.
What you might see at Forever 21.
Still it's easy and cool, I'll make it again soon.

T-Shirt Rescue?

We've all had bleach spots on our favorite tee, right? *&*^$*#   So I ask one of my artistic-crafty nieces what to do. Kristi thought I "might" bleach it some more -- sort of a tie dye.

This is the result (yes, I forgot to take a picture in progress.) I cut a little stencil. Ended up with more spray than I planned so I twisted and sprayed some more. LOL.....one of a kind for sure.

What's Been Sewing?

I have neglected to post lately. So much going on. February is THE birthday month in this family.

Janna got a couple of new tops and necklace to match.

Pattern is from Jaile 2794. Fits like a dream on this girlie.

I've got the bread basket liners all done my dear friend.
Another Feb. Birthday!

This runner uses  border fabric. It is a pattern called Easy Striped Table Runner. Lots of my friends are making these. The interesting thing is that way backwhen -  it was a free pattern from Timless Treasures.  No longer free   - there is a  lot of discussion on line about the subject. Ummm....interesting.

All these table toppers/runners were mailed to my darling niece in Utah. Leslie, Lynn and I made them for Kristi as a thank you. Kristi developed our logo for the Sew-In Retreat.  (Click to see it how it is used on our blog.)

We're using the logo on cards, correspondence and blog. Too cute, huh?

I took a trip to Manhattan Beach with Doreen last week. We  house sat  two dogs. Just steps away from the beach. Oh....my goodness what hard work! We walked, talked, shopped, ate and drank all week.
Pictures in the next post.

And the bonus was getting to spend a bit of time with her daughter, my goddaughter!

Here's Liana with her LMU bag.

Re-do, Recycle, Re-invent

The back story is I found this great t-shirt at Good Will. The print on the front was a darling yoga girl. Soooo cute, I fell in love with her. I bought it.  Got it home, it was just too small. Drats!

I saved it for months. I wanted to wear it so badly ... one day I took a notion -  I cut it apart. I cut strips from the original back to create side gussets. What the heck....nothing to lose.

I ripped apart a nice, white lycra tee and used it  for the back. (I hated the twisted front of the white one anyway!) Voila'....

The sleeves were not working out so it became a sleeveless tee. I used strips from the original sleeves for binding. I am sooooo happy with the results!

Yoga girl...you are mine...I can wear you now!!!

Happy Easter

IMHO kids of any age like to color eggs!
David (Jr.), Eddie and Janna
mad scientists at work!
Good work! And they hadn't practiced in years.

Cutest girl in the cutest shirt!

Sorry JJ, I know you were tired and didn't want the picture taken but I had to capture you in that birthday gift.

And finally......the Easter Bunny did arrive!
(note...I finally got back to sewing!)

21 August 2008

I'm  on a roll - finally! I've completed 4 knit tops in a week. My plan was a couple for me and two for DD. Umm....it may not work out that way!
This beautiful, colorful knit is an Emma Seabrook fabric. I used her t-shirt pattern. I had to make some adjustments because the knit was very stretchy. It has a beautiful drape. Can be dressy or casual - made for DD - she looks fantastic in it

The patterned shirt is Vogue 8323. I like the fit of the princess seams. My friend and I bought the fabric from JoAnn's for a test run for the new pattern. Actually it turned out very nice and I'll wear it with the sleeves pushed up. Originally the DD sort of smiled at the fabric. I made it for me. But she came over and tried it on...guess what? She fills it out and looks stellar in it. Why does it always work out that way?

The paisley, mauve is fabric from Christine Jonson. It is a very
soft, cotton/lycra. I love the feel of this fabric and wish I had it in
a dozen different colors! Definately made for me...but guess where
it is visiting right now? Uh, huh. Of course I'm thrilled she likes it.

And last - not least - is this extremely fun, deconstructed fabric. A friend had this fabulous fabric at our annual Sewing Retreat. I rushed to be just like her and ordered it from http://www.gorgeousfabrics.com/ . *Oops girl friend says this might from Textile Studio - you check it out. It is basically a mesh with a lycra overlay that has been slashed. The lycra hangs loosly attached - like an old, tattered picture. The photos are old movie stars such as Hedy Lamar. Stunning! I bought two yards. This tee is for my Aunt Mary. I think it will knock her socks off! I played with an old Stretch & Sew raglan pattern for the right fit. Now to make MINE!
