Mr Hawk Again

Our resident Sharp-shinned hawk obviously hangs out here for breakfast.
Wednesday morning it was very cold and windy.  I did not expect to see him. Around 11:00 am I noticed him under the ficus trees.

He eats on the ground when the elm tree has lost most  its leaves.
Otherwise he seems to prefer being up in the branches.
There is no doubt he was watching the resident photographer who was rapidly   taking pictures through the kitchen window.
Once breakfast was complete he flew up in the tree to clean up which involves wiping his beak on the branch.
Truly he is a handsome fellow!
Since the foliage is sparse Dave got a good picture.
Feeling good now, he readies to take off.

We are lucky to have the chance to closely observe him.

Yes, a beauty. I wonder if he is the same one that has been on our light poles on my street lately. My photographer could not get in position fast enough before his flight. Hope he keeps the pigeons down.
