I recently unearthed one of my old knitting projects. Tucked in a basket, there is was -- a vest I started at least 15 years ago. The vest back and one side were completed. Kind of an odd pattern, you work it sideways. Just a simple garter stitch but the neat thing about the pattern was knitting thin stripes using up bits of left over yarn. I'm pretty sure I would never wear this vest - even if I wanted to finish it.

I took a deep breath and ripped the unfinished side off the needles. I headed to the garbage with the whole mess. I felt kinda of sad (what a waste to toss it). Those stripes were yarns I had used in some old knit project. I started considering how I might use the completed pieces for something else. I fiddled and figured. Maybe a pillow, although the back would have to be pieced. Ah ha, a design opportunity for a zipper. Below the back vest is cut to the pillow form, the zipper is on a side piece. Yeah! I basted, serged - then cut. Finally sewed it together.

Here is the pillow. I added a few buttons to a row that looked a little wonky.
And what did dear hubby say???? "Another pillow?"
