Help Me!

Great, I have a new ironing board cover but now I HAVE to do something about my iron. My lovely, powerful Rowenta steam generator iron has problems. Just look at the cord covering. The insulated covering has been shrinking up for  a long time. I have nursed it along but ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
The uncovered cord/tubes are hotter than heck!

I cannot find a local repair place, it would cost a fortune to send it off.
Send some advise my way...please!

Went through this myself and just ahd duct tape on the cord until iron died. I have seen online that the cost of possible repair replace is more than a new iron

I think you are right. No way can I send it off. DH has messed with it - I wraped it in Insulbright for a while. Arg.....

Time to replace it? I've broken down and gotten a new iron - Reliable V100. Very nice. Lots of steam. Lots of power. If you watch online, you can find them for a reasonable price - overstocks.com comes to mind.
